It's Ok.
I am a Christian. And deeper in faith than some.

I am not heavy in religion, I think if you have to be taught something well then it was madeup by somone at some point. Though I do not discriminate against religion, I think you can believe what you want, but don't bring my topic around and say that you had to be taught how to read, write, and talk. I have a defensive, they where all made up by someone!!!!!

Well thats my point of view.

O, and I liked the movie, but there where to many scenes of the women talking, ZzzzzZzzz.

"1. i fail to see why fiction needs to be acurate
2. the movies going to feed off of this contraversy, mel gibson
will gladly welcome it, the more contraversy the more viewers the
more people go the more he looks like a briallant director, thats
why he makes all these comments about i don't care if you like it
or not, his approach is similar to eminems over the years."

Dust601, do not call this fiction when you have absolutely
no proof. It being fiction is only in your opinion.

Mel Gibson is not looking for controvery. As a matter of fact,
last time I heard, he was pretty nervous about what people
were going to say but it doesn't matter now because it is out
there. He knew before he put the movie out that people were
going to be hating on him but he felt that it was something that
he should do. He felt that everyone should know the pain that
Christ went through for us and the love that he had for us. So
it's not that he doesn't care what people think about it - he just
won't be bothered by the fact that people don't like it because
he felt that it was something he should do. Understand?

And Bam, this movie is not showing hatred towards the Jews.
It is doing nothing more than showing what happened.

I have a theory about this... I was told that many of the big
time record producers and movie makers are Jews and I am
starting to think that the reason why the word that this movie
is supposed to make people hate Jews is because the people
in power are not wanting us to see this. This is brought on by
persuasion of Satin himself.

I heard the movie made over $50 million.
Isn't that record-breaking?

In that ammount of time? Yes. It is, in fact, in the top 50 blockbuster movies of all time, now. It's record time.

FYI: I wasn't saying that the movie was anti-semitic. In fact, I've been saying the opposite.

Its made $213 million to date, (not including tonight) with $50 some-odd million this weekend, making it the fifth-most ever for a second weekend.

Its already made the most of any movie outside the Summer/Holiday Seasons. Nice.

It wouldnt surprise me if it broke $400. :o

They're predicting it will go over the 500 million mark upon world-wide release. It appears it could break that easily.

I was misinformed on what the movie was about when i made that first post, but if anyone else would like to quote that and make a comment about it feel free please i'm amused by all the welcome response's

"Mel Gibson is not looking for controvery"

and you know this for a fact how?
is Mel Gibson somehow above marketing skills used by millions of others? I was wrong to say he wanted it because i can't know that for a fact either. But he puts 22 million dollers into a movie and hes not going to welcome it and make his money back by
mass people going to go see it?

"He felt that everyone should know the pain that
Christ went through for us and the love that he had for us."

you contridict yourself saying he didn't want controversy but yet say he wanted everyone to experience it, logic with the way the world works now is if somthings controversal it sells. So i would assume if he wanted people to experience it like you say he'd want it to be spread to all.

Didnt Mel Gibson put a lot of his own money into the movie? Anyways, the bible is very interesting and if you actually read it a few times(reading it once wont do you too much good) you might get somewhat of an understanding. but if you really want won, you need to go to church.

Dang. That's bloody impressive.

Dust601, not everyone is looking for controversey.
When I saw him being interviewed by Diane Saywer,
I believed what he said. You don't have to believe what
he said. That's fine, but what you are doing is pretty much
saying that everyone with money is just alike - they just
want more money. That's not necessarily true.

I'm saying nothing of the sort, i'm just implying that it probably wouldn't ruin his year if he made lots and lots of money off of it.
I can bealive his major motivation is to get the story out and show everyone he can the story because thats what he feels is right and power to em for it, but there has to be a little part of him thinking "damn this movie did great"

It is not wrong for him to think about how well this movie is doing. For the fact that it is doing this well means that many many people are seeing this story. It can help people join his faith, to which I doubt he has a problem.

Also, if it does make enough money, it might open up the doors for other Christian films to be made. Who knows?

Err...when you said all this positive stuff about Gibson and then said...

...the key word being "but" gives the impression it was negative. Meh, doesnt matter, I suppose. :\

i want to go see it but i'm not because of all the gasps i'll here in the theater from small children. one of my friends said it was good but there were A LOT of little kids (under 9) in there. those parents are just dumb, and hopefully rich, think of all the therapist bills...

I was a little disappointed by it. I understand why it is so gory, and how the audience is supposed to connect with the struggle of Jesus, but I really think Mel could have had the same result without such a pointing of fingers at Jews. What I got from the film was that ‘here’s a guy who’s absolutely great, but the Jews hate him so he must die.’ Jesus was upsetting to the Romans just as much to the Jews, but that was almost totally nonexistent in the film. I also thought a majority of the film was just Jesus’ mangled face starring at others for inordinately long periods of time. If I recall, Jesus blesses the woman who brings him water, but in the movie there was no dialog, just a long stare.
