Yea getting a good woopin is what some kids today need. I see some kids talking back to their parents and think to myself I would be 10ft under if I did that to my dad. Then again, Child abuse is an arguable crime within itself. It was considering ok at one time to do it as a disciplinary act against a child's behavior. But now it isn't commonly done. I for wouldnt use my hand against my own son, but I would punish him bad to a point where it is worse than any hand or smack.

beating the **** out of your child is a crime. Making him understand that I mean business is completely different.
