| Well, it's kinda unspoken, but since the majority of the people on earth are inconsiderate..True, our laws (US) gives us the freedom of speech and whatnot, but it was meant within reason. Freedom of speech as long as it doesn't infringe on other peoples rights. The freedom to do what makes us happy as long as it doesn't hurt someone else. The world centered around etiquete more so back in the 1700's than it does today, where it is getting more and more uncommon to hear the words thank you and excuse me from a 15 year old, so people seem to overlook that fact.
Basically, wiether or not there is a law against doing something like that, it's just un-caring, and also for someone to retaliate against that, isn't lawful, but that's a debate for another thread.

| For somebody to retaliate against it by burning down an embassary IS unlawful. And if they burn down a Canadian embassary I hope those mofos get the book thrown at them to the fullest extent of Canadian law~

| They don't care about our laws. We do have good laws according to their religion, except for the emancipation of women.
The problem is actually quite political. |

That Canadian site's not bad. Anyone know of a similar American site? |

| I like how they burned a KFC and vandalized a Citibank today. That's pretty mature.
This goes way beyond some cartoon images. This is just an excuse to create more chaos, and it's pathetic.

| I'll check but I doubt that cbc would have a American site, or even a .com. Checking.
Nope. And I can't say I'm surprised.

| Well i can only say that i dont use CNN or BBC to get news.. i do use some of the Danish news stations to get my news and stuff (like DR1 or TV2, both good relyable newsstations) And sure you can call me uneducated, i dont really care, becouse i am. Im 15 and not done with school yet, so i am kind of uneducated. But the fact that some ppl burn down an embasee just becouse of a facking picture, makes me rather sick...
Also: some muslims want Denmark as a country to say sorry for the Pics, even tho its only a just a small newsstation who made the pics... And then after they burned our embasee, did they say sorry? Not sure they did, but i dont think so..

There's nothing really serious about those cartoons, really. It's just an excuse, indeed. |

| I do not see anything very serious about those cartoons. If I had a magazine I might publish them. They're pretty neat.

| I live in canada, and the cartoons were printed here in a Calgary based magazine called the "Western Standard". All major national magazines and papers refused to print them. In my opinion, this was a blatent display of disrespect towards muslims. Their reasoning was to "stand up for free speech". So basically, since all of the other publications were being respectful, they decided to rub the comics in the faces of muslims across Canada.
I'm 100% for freedom of speech, but you need to understand there are limitations. If you went up to the prime minister/president/whatever and say "You know what, **** you you piece of shit, I WILL kill you, and then castrate your body", I really doubt you can say "freedom of speech! ownt! You can't prosecute me!". You'd likely be jailed as a threat to the country.
I feel that it should be noted that religious beliefs were the root cause of this dispute, as it is of many others.

| Could you please post how these comic are in any way disrespectful or against any laws or rules that have any bearing in western Canada? I don't see any, myself.
I think it's just muslims whining because their toes were tread on.

I think it's just muslims whining because their toes were tread on. | Muslims, just like all religions, care about their patrons of their religions. But it is especially bad to Muslims. Images of the Prophet himself are very sensitive. Portraying him in a bad light, with all the chaos in the world between Islam and the Western world, is even worse.
Just because it isn't a law doesn't make it wrong, or at the very least, stupid.*

'A danish newspaper publish a blank image on its cartoon area.
Atheists all over the world are rioting.' |

| Those ****s have drawn our religious icons in deragatory ways, so why the heck are they complaining about a cartoon of theirs? Hyppocrites. |
