There are no bosses to defeat, only goals to meet. There are two types of stages in the game, "Create a Star" and "Create a Constellation"

In Create a Star you must grow your Katamari to a certain size within a certain time limit.

You grow your Katamari in size by rolling objects that are strewn about each level. At first your Katamari is small so you can only roll over small objects (thumbtacks, coins, Leggos, etc.), but as your Katamari increases in size you are able to absorb larger things (cats, dogs, people), and eventually gigantic things (cars, trees, houses, skyscrapers, small islands, and eventually pieces of the sky).

The other type of stage is "Create a Constellation" In this type of stage you must collect an theme item in order to create a constellation (fish for pisces, crabs for cancer, swans for cygnus, etc.).

If you are wondering what the story is, and why your character is creating stars and constellations, here's the back story:

The main character is the Prince of the Cosmos (a miniscule, green, little, teletubbie looking thing). And your task is to restore the night sky, as it has been destroyed. How you ask? Your father (The King of the Cosmos), got wasted at a party and destroyed it by accident that's how. And now his lazy ass is sending you to fix things. I'm not kidding, this is the storyline. I know it sounds wacky...

There is also a split screen vs. mode where people can compete to see who can create the biggest Katamari (if you get big enough, you can absorb your opponent). There is also an item collection sub theme that will please gamers of that disposition.

The soundtrack is also probably one of the best ever. There are others on this forum (ShatteredFixtures) who are more qualified than I to elaborate on that, however. It rocks, trust me.

Bottom line is, the game is ridiculously good, it's only twenty bucks, go buy it.
