i dont think fights are a big deal. fights are going to happen, people get pissed and get in fights. now if your mentally unstable enough to go beyond a fistfight and bring a knife or gun to kill someone, you should be tossed in jail no matter your age.... its the parents fault for raising their kids wrong, but the kid tried to kill someone, let him learn the hard way. im totally against punishing people for simple fistfights. i can see a detention or something useless as punishment.. but not jail time or even suspension from school. fistfights are always going to happen. were only human.
