Actually, Taslon is the person who was reading those journal entries. He is the decendent of Dr. Macron. The NE is supposed to represent that. It's about 1,725 years after the Great War (at least that's the car model year). It's actually around 1732 NE. I guess I should say that NE stands for New Era. This does take place on Earth, too. (if you can't tell by species name and such)
