| When I was first starting this ladder with my sorc, I would walk to meph (teleing through walls instead of finding doors). When walking, you don't usually teleport into a big mob, and if you see any guys, just tele away. Use the moat trick at meph, making sure to avoid the council members that may be on your right. Wearing a dwarfstar ring will make you immune to hydras/meteors/etc.
It's never easy starting out, but it definitely isn't impossible.
