| Thaltos snapped to attention when he heard Balthizar below him, and he opened his mouth to say something to him when he caught a small sound in the trees. The bit of rustling that Asakai had been making had stopped, and there had been a slight thump.
Thaltos paused for only a second, then hopped lightly down to the ground behind the retreating Balthizar. His eyes narrowed at the trees, he beckoned to Balthizar to be quiet.
"Something's not quite right. Asakai went into the treeline, she's been disturbed by something...and now I don't hear her anymore. I'm going to go check it out, you stay with Torque. If anything goes wrong that I can't handle, I'll send a spark from the Shears up into the sky, and that'll be the signal for you to wake up Torque and come play cavalry."
Without waiting for confirmation from Balthizar, Thaltos stealthily slunk into the trees after Asakai. |
