| It's no big issue, since the resists are only good for that difficulty. So when you go to Nightmare, the quest can be done there. I personally never do them, since I have my resists maxed out in each difficulty with my gear.
I did however faced the same problem with my Hell Forge. A friend of mine and I were doing a privite game and he helpped me get my forge. He ended up killing Hephisto, then picked up the Hammer while I went back to town and got the stone from cain. Came back and I couldn't get the forge, I had to leave and come back for some reason for it to work out properly.
