diagonal lines? just create a 3x3 img, zoom in all the way, use the pencil tool to make three diagonal dots, edit -> define pattern. then on ur img, create a new layer, edit -> fill (or shift+f5), chose ur pattern and press ok. now set the layers opacity down to 30% and the blending mode to overlay or soft light (whichever looks best).
note that this will somewhat brighten the image. if u dont want this, instead of creating the pattern with a white bg, create it with a transparent one
