As for new monsters...well, I notice that GuildWars has centaurs. Not the stately, scholarly type seen in a lot of fantasy fiction, but ferocious badasses that can swarm a party in seconds as they come galloping up. There's also a type of walking tree that's probably inspired by Tolkien's Ents, but much meaner.
There's no limit to what they could come up with, if they only put their minds to it.
