| The queen thrashed in pain and rage, her flailing limbs and tail crashing throughout the cave, snapping stone formations like twigs and sending rubble flying every which way. The flame-queen that J'kar had summoned was hit dead-center with a piece of debris and dissipated, but the queen continued to twist and thrash in agony. J'kar took the opportunity to surge forward with his last vestiges of strength and leap into the air and bring his scythe down in a powerful stroke at her already damaged neck. The queen turned to meet him, but she was too slow. The scythe blade bit deep into her neck, severing what was already weakened. As J'kar fell back to the ground at her feet, the queen staggered and took a few steps, before her head slid off and slammed to the ground, the body collapsing shortly after. J'kar rolled to narrowly miss being crushed by her falling corpse and, avoiding the blood which sizzled on the ground, he dragged himself over to Ian. Upon reaching him, he placed his hand on Ian's unwounded shoulder and shook him awake.
"It's okay...she's dead." |
